Two programs with recent success walked away from Bethel Park High School on Thursday with district gold. North Allegheny repeated as Class AAA champs by knocking off Shady Side Academy, while Sewickley Academy claimed a fourth WPIAL Class AA championship in the last seven years with a victory over cinderella Indiana. Welcome to Week 8 of the high school football season. The Stretch Run continues this week as we near the end of the regular season.  Each year at this time, Chick’s Picks likes to celebrate the Stretch Run by seeking out the latest fitness trend and planning a group activity involving it with all of Team MSA.  This year, her activity of choice was Aerial Yoga. The PIAA held their state Semifinals in golf on Tuesday, a little event known as the PIAA Western Regional Championships. Week seven of the local college football season has a little of everything this week. A Thursday night game, battles for first place in the NEC, PSAC West and PAC and two local teams making a trip to Michigan to play in the Big House. While the 'Stretch Run' continues in high school football, we begin the district boys and girls soccer playoffs while preparing for the WPIAL girls volleyball playoffs this week here on the MSA Sports Network.
