| MSA Sports Network Student Athlete Spotlight |
|
Ashley Miller is a senior at Norwin High School. She has a
cumulative GPA over her entire high school career of 97% and
is ranked 33 out of 391 in her class. She has received the
President's Academic Award twice and is eligible for a third
time at the end of this year. She is vice president of the
National Honor Society for her school, but is also involved
in Student Council, Spanish Club, and Ski Club. Last year she
was a Rotary Youth Leadership Award winner and was able to
attend a leadership camp and banquet with other RYLA recipients
during the summer. She plans on working towards a coaching
license for next spring.
Ashley has been playing soccer for eleven years. Last spring
she was a member of the U-17 IFC Red Lightning cup team that
placed first in the PPA championships and qualified for PPA
regionals in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Over the course of her four
years at Norwin, she has lettered her freshman, sophomore and
junior year, and is eligible for this again her senior year.
As a sophomore, she was selected as a section all-star at
forward and defense. As a junior, she was selected for the
same honor as a forward. Her primary position this year is
also forward. She helped the Lady Knights advance to the
WPIAL finals and the state semi-finals her junior year. By the
end of the season, Ashley will have played in her 100th high
school game.
Ashley plans to major in Spanish and International Business,
while possibly working towards a teaching certificate. She
may also be interested in pursuing law school after college.
Schools she is most interested in right now are John Carroll
University, Allegheny College, Penn State Behrend, University
of Pittsburgh, and Mercyhurst.

| How to Get Your Student in the Spotlight |
|
Balancing sports, schoolwork, and other activities is one of your
child's greatest challenges. We at MSA Sports would like to
spotlight some of these students who do just that - and do it WELL!
Parents, teachers, family members and friends, we need your help
identifying students to feature in the Student Athlete Spotlight.
Send a photograph of the student, along with some biographical
information. Student bio should be brief (2 or 3 paragraphs) and
include sport played and position, academic and other honors, GPA,
extracurricular activities, and any other information that helps to
showcase the achievements and character of this student athlete.
Once your child is selected we will send you a permission form to
allow us to post the student's picture and profile. Please
use this form to submit a student
for consideration.
